名詞の複数形・冠詞・代名詞
この単元でできるようになること
- 数えられる名詞の複数形（s / es / ies / 不規則）を作れる
- a / an / the の使い分けができる
- 代名詞の 4 つの形（I / my / me / mine）を、文の中の役割で使い分けられる
- 数えられない名詞（water、music）の扱いがわかる
入試での位置づけ
複数形の s と代名詞の格（he / his / him）は、英作文と適語補充で減点されやすい基本項目です。単独の大問にはなりにくいですが、どの文にも出てくるので、間違えると全体の点に響きます。特に「my → mine」「they → them」の使い分けと、「a のつく・つかない」は繰り返し問われます。
1. 名詞の複数形
まずここだけ
英語では、2 つ以上のものは名詞の形を変えて表します（日本語にはない習慣）。

数えられない名詞
water、milk、money、music、information、homework、paper（紙）、bread などは数えられないので、複数形にせず、a もつけません。量を言うときは a glass of water、a piece of paper、two cups of coffee のように容器・単位で数えます。
よくある間違い
- 「2 冊の本」を two book にする → two books
- child → childs → children
- 「宿題がたくさん」を many homeworks → a lot of homework（数えられない）
- 数えられない名詞に a：a water → water、a glass of water
ここまでできれば十分
複数形のつづりルールと、児童・人・足などの不規則形、数えられない名詞の代表を覚えれば、この単元の前半は合格です。
2. 冠詞 ── a / an / the
まずここだけ

a と the の使い分け
I have a dog. The dog is very big. （最初は「ある犬」→ 2 回目は「その犬」と特定される）
初めて出てきたら a、2 回目からは the。これが基本の感覚です。
the をつける決まった言い方
- 1 つしかないもの：the sun、the moon、the earth、the sea
- 楽器を演奏する：play the piano、play the guitar（スポーツにはつけない：play tennis）
- 序数・最上級：the first、the best（e2-06）
- in the morning / in the afternoon / in the evening（at night は the なし）
a をつけない場合
- 複数形：dogs（a dogs は誤り）
- 数えられない名詞：water、music
- 食事・スポーツ・教科：have breakfast、play soccer、study math
- 人名・国名・都市名：Ken、Japan、Tokyo
よくある間違い
- an を「母音字」で判断して an university とする → 発音が /ju/（子音）なので a university。逆に an hour は h を発音しないので an
- play a piano → play the piano
- I like a dog. →（犬全般が好きなら）I like dogs.
3. 代名詞 ── 4 つの形
まずここだけ
代名詞は、文の中での役割で形が変わります。

使い分けの判断
- 動詞の前（）→ 主格：He plays tennis.
- 名詞の前（〜の）→ 所有格：This is his bike.
- 動詞や前置詞のあと（〜を・〜に）→ 目的格：I know him. / Look at her.
- 名詞なしで「〜のもの」→ 所有代名詞：This bike is his. / That is mine.
例
I like her. She likes me.（私は彼女が好き。彼女は私が好き） This is my pen. That pen is yours.（yours = your pen） They are our friends. We help them.
「私のもの」の作り方
「my pen」を名詞なしで言うと「mine」。所有格 + 名詞 = 所有代名詞。his は所有格と所有代名詞が同じ形、her（所有格）と hers（所有代名詞）は違うので注意。
this / that / these / those
- this（これ・この）／ these（これら）：近いもの
- that（あれ・あの）／ those（あれら）：遠いもの
- 名詞の前にもつく：this book、those books
よくある間違い
- I know he. → 目的語は him
- This is mine bag. → mine は名詞をつけない。my bag または mine
- Her is a teacher. → 主語は She
- its と it’s の混同 → its = それの（所有格）、it’s = it is の短縮
もう一歩（発展）：名詞の所有格
人名・人を表す名詞には ‘s をつけて「〜の」：Ken**‘s** bike、my mother**‘s** car、the teacher**‘s** desk。複数形（s で終わる）には ’ だけ：the students**’** room。物には of を使うことが多い：the door of the room。
4. 自己チェック
- 2 つ以上の名詞に s / es / ies / ves をつけたか。不規則形（children、men）か
- 数えられない名詞に a や複数形をつけていないか
- a / an は次の語の音で判断したか。2 回目は the か
- 代名詞は役割（主語・〜の・〜を・〜のもの）に合わせた形か
- 楽器は the、スポーツは無冠詞か
